When you read the title of this article, did you immediately feel a sense of hope and assurance that a new discovery for Breast Cancer had been made? “The first non-toxic agent” is a direct quote from an article in the Molecular Cancer Therapeutics Journal. The research scientists were making a plea for an urgent need for effective and nontoxic therapies for aggressive and metastatic Breast Cancers.
They found that Cannibidiol (CBD) from the hemp plant represents the first non-toxic agent that significantly decreases the expression of a protein involved in metastatic Breast Cancer cells, resulting in the down regulation of tumor aggressiveness.
Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN’s Chief Medical Correspondent, opened the eyes of many Americans with his investigative report on Marijuana. As he dug deeper into the scientific literature and after having met real people with real results, he expressed the benefits of some of the properties of the hemp plant.
Now let me be clear that I am not encouraging the use of marijuana as a recreational drug, nor do I endorse the hemp plant that has active THC, the psycho-active chemical in the plant(although there is science behind the benefit of THC and certain cancers). The most potent and active part of the hemp plant is what we call cannibidiol or CBD. CBD is one of 60 plant chemicals found in Hemp. A study published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology in 2012 listed some of the general benefits of CBD.
There are literally cannabinoid receptors in the brain and on the T cells and macrophages of the Immune System. These receptors are activated by cannabinoids that are naturally inside the body or when they are introduced to CBD from an external source.
Specifically for Breast Cancer, CBD is a very promising therapy. Here are some of the effects CBD has on Breast Cancer:
CBD significantly reduces the primary tumor mass as well as the size and number of lung metastasis.
The National Cancer Institute also has several research articles about the anti-tumor and pain relieving effects of CBD. I encourage you to take a look and read for yourself so you can build confidence in evidence-based natural medicines.
Please be advised that not all CBD oils are created equal. CBD is available as an oil, in capsules, and even a delicious chewing gum. If you are on a healing journey and are searching for a gentle, non-toxic, yet effective therapy, you may want to consider including real scientific Hemp Oil in your protocol. Or, if you are like “Proactive Patty” and are looking to prevent Breast Cancer, CBD may support your goal of vibrant health.
